Business Factory Start-up support Offering help to anyone wishing to start a business in North Tyneside consisting of:

-Drop in service at the North Tyneside Business Centre, Saville Street, North Shields
-Tailored, confidential free advice
-Weekly workshops, courses, qualifications and networking opportunities
-Support and advice to access grants and loans
-Business Factory Enterprise Club

Specialist Consultancy This service is available to clients setting up Business to Business (B2B) Businesses, up to 12 months old:

-How to generate more sales and win B2B contracts
-PR and Marketing
-Social Media support such as setting up a Facebook page or Twitter account and how to make them work
-ICT support, including setting up of free and low cost websites and help with what ICT equipment needed to run an SME

Social Enterprise Support This service offers intensive advice and support to individuals / groups of individuals considering establishing a new social enterprise. The support provided includes detailed advice on potential new business structures (including CICs, co-operatives and mutuals), business planning, funding and assessing viability.

We will be offering ‘Introductory Workshops’ for North Tyneside residents which will include an overview of setting up and running a social enterprise, a myth-busting session on business structures, best practice examples of established service deliverers and advice on what additional support is available. Sector workshops will also be delivered in areas such as Care, Property / Community investment, Ecco and Arts

This service will operate once a week from the Business Factory offering appointments and will be available for clients to access the advisors across the borough.

Property Consultancy This service is available to clients setting up Business to Business (B2B) Businesses, up to 12 months old

The service offers advice by a qualified chartered surveyor to new businesses and covers the minimum topics:

-Purchase and lease of commercial property advice including a general health check on the properties all property angles are covered up front so the leases are fair and flexible with no onerous liabilities and terms that suit the individual business needs, including early exit strategies if required
-Assistance with finding commercial premises
-Assessment of on Heads of Terms
-Ensuring the new tenants / business have an understanding of their property liability – which generally gives a great deal of comfort
-Terms agreed up front with solicitors before they are instructed if they are used – thus reducing costs and minimising the risk of costly abortive fees

New Product Development This service will support those residents of North Tyneside with new product ideas, an invention or a new innovation, who do not know how to take their idea forward. The service provides the necessary information to help these people through the early steps in taking their idea to the point of becoming a viable business. Minimum topics covered are:

-Advice and guidance about the process of taking their idea forward. This will include basic information regarding protection of the idea, the steps involved in the commercialisation process, the options available and the next steps to be taken.

-A number of workshops covering all the aspects of taking an idea to market, covering in detail the forms of protection available and how trade marks, patents and designs can be used to protect ideas and inventions.
